چکیده

In this survey, we examine the operations of innovation processes within industrial districts by exploring the ways in which differentiation, specialization, and integration affect the generation, diffusion, and use of new knowledge in such districts. We begin with an analysis of the importance of the division of labour and then investigate the effects of social embeddedness on innovation. We also consider the effect of forms of organization within industrial districts at various stages of product and process life, and we examine the negative aspects of embeddedness for innovation. We conclude with a discussion of the possible consequences of new information and communications technologies on innovation in industrial districts. 1 The paper is a draft chapter for Giacomo Becattini, Marco Bellandi, and Lisa De Propris, eds., Handbook of Industrial Districts. Cheltenham: Edward Elgar, in preparation. We thankfully acknowledge suggestions made by the editors and by Arnaldo Camuffo and Paola Cillo. Any errors, of course, remain our responsibility.

Investigation of utilization of nanosuspension formulation to enhance exposure of 1,3-dicyclohexylurea in rats: Preparation for PK/PD study via subcutaneous route of nanosuspension drug delivery

1,3-Dicyclohexylurea (DCU), a potent soluble epoxide hydrolase (sEH) inhibitor has been reported to lower systemic blood pressure in spontaneously hypertensive rats. One limitation of continual administration of DCU for in vivo studies is the compound's poor oral bioavailability. This phenomenon is mainly attributed to its poor dissolution rate and low aqueous solubility. Previously, wet-milled...

Dissolved Copper Speciation Behaviour during Estuarine Mixing in the San Simon Inlet (wet Season, Galicia). Influence of Particulate Matter

The speciation trend of dissolved copper (DCu) was studied by first time in a Galician Ria across the estuarine zone of the Vigo Ria during the wet season and related to the copper levels in suspended particulate matter (PCu) and sediments. In the riverine and ocean end-members DCu concentrations can be defined as pristine (<4 nM in Oitavén River). DCu is not conservative during the estuarine m...

TRECVid 2007 Experiments at Dublin City University

In this paper we describe our retrieval system and experiments performed for the automatic search task in TRECVid 2007. We submitted the following six automatic runs: • F A 1 DCU-TextOnly6 : Baseline run using only ASR/MT text features. • F A 1 DCU-ImgBaseline4 : Baseline visual expert only run, no ASR/MT used. Made use of query-time generation of retrieval expert coefficients for fusion. • F A...

An annotation scheme for syntactic unit in Japanese dialog

In this paper, we propose a scheme for annotating syntactic units called DCU (Dialog Clause-Unit) in Japanese dialogs. Since there is no explicit devices to mark sentence boundaries in speech, precise definition and criteria must be designed to extract syntactic units from the utterance. We show a design of DCU which consists of clausal and non-clausal units. Annotating DCU tags to eight dialog...
